Production costing software for small manufacturers in Nigeria

Find out what each batch really costs to make.

If you make bread, soap, drinks or snacks, ingredients are only part of the cost. TruKonta Maker records your raw materials, batches and output, then works out the cost of each finished unit and the margin it earns when you sell.

The everyday problem

Your selling price only works if you know the cost

Two batches of the same recipe rarely come out the same. Some loaves burn, some bars of soap crack, and the price of flour or oil moves every month. A rough estimate on paper can hide a product that is losing money.

TruKonta Maker works from what you actually recorded: the raw materials at their cost, labour and overhead if you add them, and the good units the batch produced.

An illustrative example

Example: costing a batch of soap

A made-up business, to show how it works. Not a customer story.

A soap maker uses oils, caustic soda, fragrance and wrapping for a batch meant to give 100 bars. Ten crack in the mould, so 90 are good. The cost of all the materials is now carried by 90 bars, not 100, and the selling price has to cover that.

Once the cost per bar is right, profit tracking shows what the business really earned, and the credit book keeps track of the shops that take your bars now and pay later.

What you can do

One app for the whole job.

A recipe for each product

Set out the raw materials that go into one batch of each product you make.

Record a batch in a few taps

Say how many batches you made. The raw materials come out of stock and the finished goods go in.

Cost per good unit

Record the units that came out right. The cost of spoiled ones is carried by the good units, so the cost per unit stays honest.

Margin on every product

See the cost to make next to the selling price, and the margin each product earns.

How it works

From raw materials to a product you can sell

An example of the everyday routine. What you see depends on your plan.

  1. Add your raw materials

Flour, sugar, oil, packaging: record them with their cost. Raw materials do not count against your product allowance.

  2. Write the recipe

Set what one batch uses and how many units it should make.

  3. Record the batch

When you make a batch, record it. Add labour and overhead if you want them in the cost.

  4. Record what came out

Enter the good units. If some were spoiled, the cost per unit reflects it.

  5. Price and sell

The finished product carries its cost to make, so every sale shows the profit it earned.

Good to know

Production costing is not just stock counting

A stock app tells you how much is left. Production costing also tells you what went into each batch, what came out and what each finished unit cost. That matters the moment you make your own products instead of buying them to resell.

Good to know

Questions, answered plainly.

Can I record ingredients and batches?

Yes. With the Maker add-on you set a recipe for each product and record each batch in a few taps. The raw materials come out of stock and the finished goods go in.

Does it work out the cost of each unit?

Yes. TruKonta adds up the raw materials at their cost, plus labour and overhead if you record them, and divides by the good units the batch produced.

Is Maker included in every plan?

No. Maker is an optional add-on at ₦5,000 a month for each branch that produced that month. It attaches to any paid plan, from Lite up.

Do raw materials use up my product limit?

No. Raw materials do not count against your product allowance, so a maker on Lite can keep a full list of ingredients.

What if I make products in more than one place?

Maker is billed for each branch that actually produced in the month. Running more than one branch needs Growth or Business.
