Profit tracking software for small businesses in Nigeria

Sales are not profit. Know what your business really earns.

A busy day can bring in a lot of money and still leave little profit once you take out what the goods cost and what the business spent. TruKonta records your sales, costs and expenses together, so the profit figure is real.

The everyday problem

A full cash drawer can hide a thin margin

If you sell ₦100,000 of goods in a day, that is not ₦100,000 of profit. Some of it paid for the goods, and some of it will go on rent, transport, fuel and salaries. Money received and profit are related, but they are not the same thing.

TruKonta keeps the records that make the difference visible: what you sold, what it cost you and what the business spent.

An illustrative example

Example: a profitable sale that has not been paid for

A made-up business, to show how it works. Not a customer story.

A trader sells goods at a good margin but lets the customer pay next week. The sale counts towards profit, but the money has not arrived. Treating that profit as cash would make the business look richer today than it is.

So TruKonta keeps the two apart: the profit report shows what the business earned, and the credit book shows what customers still owe. If staff handle the money, cashier and staff monitoring helps keep the count honest.

What you can do

One app for the whole job.

Profit on every item

Record what you paid and what you sell for, and see the margin on each item.

Expenses as they happen

Add each expense with a photo of the receipt, so rent, fuel and transport are not forgotten.

Profit for the whole business

From Starter, see whether the business made money once costs and expenses are taken out.

Money owed is not money in

Sell on credit and keep a credit book on every paid plan, so what customers owe you is never mistaken for cash.

How it works

From sales figures to real profit

An example of the everyday routine. What you see depends on your plan.

  1. Record every sale

Sell from TruKonta at the counter instead of rebuilding the day from cash and bank alerts at night.

  2. Keep item costs right

Update what you paid when supplier prices change, so the margins stay true.

  3. Record money going out

Add expenses as they happen, with a photo of the receipt.

  4. Read the profit

Lite shows the profit on each item. Starter and above show the profit for the whole business.

  5. Act on it

Find the products that earn the most and the ones worth a second look, before you restock or change a price.

Good to know

Profit, cash and money owed are different things

A customer can owe you for a sale. You can buy stock today and sell it next month. Cash in the bank may already belong to a supplier. Good records explain the difference, and the figures are only as accurate as the sales, costs and expenses you record.

Who it helps

Who this is for

Owners with many product lines, service businesses, makers and growing retailers who want a profit figure they can trust. TruKonta keeps your records; for audits and tax filing, work with a qualified accountant.

Good to know

Questions, answered plainly.

Does recording sales tell me my profit?

Only with costs. TruKonta takes each item's cost away from its selling price, and on Starter and above takes your expenses away too, so the figure is profit, not takings.

Can I see profit for each product?

Yes, on every paid plan. Keep each product's cost up to date and the margin stays accurate.

Which plan shows profit for the whole business?

Starter and above. Growth and Business add profit for each branch on its own.

Can I track customers who owe me?

Yes. Every paid plan has a credit book. Growth adds a list of who owes you and for how long.

Can my accountant use the figures?

Yes. On Business, TruKonta keeps full books, including a VAT return and bank matching, that you can hand to your accountant.
